International Women's Day Thursday 8th March 2012
On Thursday 8th March – International Women’s Day - there are a series of events In the Cathedral;
5 p.m. a talk by the Cathedral Sacristan, Jan Roberts, who has worked there for 12 years making and tending the special robes the clergy wear -the Cathedral Vestments. An unusual and informative talk about the significance of the colours, why they change and the robes themselves.
6 p.m. the International Women’s Day Special Service also held in the Cathedral. The Director of Music, Mark Duthie, will be playing the organ and there will be prayers and readings.
After the talk and the service, participants are invited to a Special Supper in Pilgrims Restaurant in the Cathedral Close. (From 6.30). Tickets are £10 for 2 courses and £12 for 2 courses with wine. For supper queries and to book your place call the restaurant on 01874 610610.
