GLORIA Festival of Flowers 16th-19th August 2012

Events

Brecon Cathedral is hosting a Flower Festival in August 2012 in accordance with NAFAS, with the theme Gloria.  It promises to be a spectacular event.

Message from the Dean of Brecon Cathedral The Very Reverend Geoffrey Marshall:

“I chose the theme Gloria for this year’s Flower Festival because “Gloria” is short for the Latin phrase "Gloria in excelsis Deo" ("Glory to God in the highest"), the title of one of the Church’s   earliest hymns – sung daily since at least the 4th century. I hope it also reflects Britain’s success in the Olympic Games (first held in 776 BC), which will have closed a few days before the Flower Festival opens, as we also look forward to the Paralympics starting the following week. I have every confidence that “Gloria” will also reflect what you think of the flowers.”
