Heritage Centre and Cathedral Shop

Established in 1995, the Heritage Centre was created from a 17th century Tithe Barn which had been derelict for a number of years. There are some magnificent roof timbers, and the exhibition which has been mounted inside the building in no way intrudes on this iOutside view of Pilgrimsnternal architecture. The old 15 th century wooden bell frame which was removed from the Cathedral tower in 1994 has been re-erected and life size copy bells inserted. The exhibition itself tells the story of the Priory since its foundation by Bernard de Neufmarch in 1093. There are videos and audios illustrating various aspects of Cathedral life and history. It is well worth a visit and entrance is free, although donations are happily received.

The shop is open all year round. For opening times and to access the Shop website, which sells a range of Cathedral memorabilia and gifts, perfect for visitors from all corners of the globe.  Click Here to visit the Cathedral Shop Web page.

The shop welcomes and encourages new volunteers.  Our current volunteers work on average three hour shifts.  We ask for a very reasonable minimum commitment of one shift per month and provide ample training.  Our volunteers really enjoy the very important role that they play in the shop.
