The town is situated on the main A40 trunk road, midway between Abergavenny to the East and Llandovery to the West. It is also accessible from the South (Cardiff) via the A470 and the North East (Builth Wells, Hay On Wye, Hereford etc.) via the A470 and the A465. The Cathedral is situated on the B4520 and is well signposted as you enter the town - just follow the brown signs.
Access, Parking, Toilets etc.
There is parking in the Close, but this is restricted to our disabled visitors plus those who live and work in the Close. The Cathedral also owns the free car park just outside the Close, which includes some additional disabled parking and dedicated space for two coaches or buses. For big services, concerts and other events held outside school hours, the adjacent Priory Church-in-Wales Primary School car park is also made available to the Cathedral. There are toilets near the south west entrance to the Cathedral and also behind our Pilgrims restaurant. The north door (from the graveyard) has steps through the porch into the Cathedral; but the south west door (from inside the Close) has ramped access. There are no other steps in the Cathedral until you want to get into the sanctuary or up the tower, both of which are normally out of bounds to all visitors.
