Come and Sing with John Rutter 30 September 2017

Singers of all ages are invited to raise their voices under the direction of one of the most renowned figures in choral music.  John Rutter will lead a Come and Sing Day at Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon on Saturday 30 September 2017.

You will be invited to sing a mixture of choral music old and new, familiar and unfamiliar, with some of John Rutter’s own works included and a few surprises! Enthusiastic singers of all levels are welcome to this hugely enjoyable day, organised by the Brecon Singers.

John Rutter is one of the world’s most famous composers and conductors.  His compositional career has embraced large and small-scale choral works, orchestral and instrumental pieces, a piano concerto, two children’s operas, music for television, and specialist writing for such groups as the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the King’s Singers.

His larger choral works, Gloria (1974), Requiem (1985), Magnificat (1990), Psalmfest (1993) and Mass of the Children (2003) have been performed many times in Britain, North America, and a growing number of other countries.

He co-edited four volumes in the Carols for Choirs series with Sir David Willcocks, and, more recently, has edited the first two volumes in the new Oxford Choral Classics series, Opera Choruses (1995) and European Sacred Music (1996).  He has guest-conducted or lectured at many concert halls, universities, churches, music festivals, and conferences in Europe, Africa, North and Central America and Australasia.

The event will begin at 11am and finish at 4:45pm, with a one hour lunch break. Doors will open at 9:30am for registration.  Tickets will go on sale on 30 March 2017 and are priced at £20 to include music hire for the day.  Copies of music performed on the day and John Rutter CDs will be available to buy.  Places are limited and will be sold according to availability.
