Lunchtime Recital series 2026
Spring (April–May) opens with Emilija Karaliütė on the kankles (a Baltic folk instrument), followed by the Courante Consort and a concert billed as "Strings and Songs". May brings vocal performances from tenor Roshan Din, organ from Matthew McVey, and harp from Ben Creighton Griffiths. The month closes with a special concert by the Gwent Chamber Orchestra.
Summer (June–July) features a strong run of vocal soloists, including soprano Rachel Barnes, and baritones Lewis Wright, Andrew Watt, and Damian O'Keeffe. June also includes cellist Callum Young, and July brings guitarist Cai Charles for some instrumental variety. A festival highlight falls on July 17th, when the Contrepoint Vocal Octet performs as part of the Brecon Choir Festival — tickets £10. July rounds off with the Polyphonica Recorder Trio and soprano Jodie Lambert-Tandy.
Late summer and autumn (August–September) offers organ recitals from Richard Cook and alto Georgia Bishop, the Yellow Bird Ensemble, a joint mezzo-soprano and baritone recital by Mirousalava Yuranova and Krum Galabov, choral group Bute Voices, and pianist Harrison Williams. The series concludes on September 18th with an organ recital by Jon Pilgrim, a fittingly resonant finale in the cathedral setting.
