A spectacular programme awaits at Brecon Cathedral this June, as Brecknock Sinfonia returns for one of the highlight concerts of their 2026 season.
Conductor Michael Bell MBE leads the orchestra alongside acclaimed cellist Sonia Hammond in an evening that moves from high drama to tender intimacy and back again, culminating in one of the great symphonic celebrations in the repertoire.
The Programme
Borodin Overture to Prince Igor
Elgar Cello Concerto
Dvořák Symphony No. 8
The concert opens with the vivid, sweeping drama of Borodin's Prince Igor Overture — bold, colourful, and instantly captivating. The centrepiece of the evening is Elgar's deeply personal Cello Concerto, a work of haunting beauty and emotional depth, here performed by guest soloist Sonia Hammond. After the interval, Dvořák's Eighth Symphony brings the night to a joyful and rousing close, full of folk-inspired melody and orchestral brilliance.
Whether you're a regular concert-goer or discovering live orchestral music for the first time, this is an evening not to be missed.
