choir festival comes to the cathedral…
Brecon Cathedral is delighted to welcome the Brecon Choir Festival back for its fifth anniversary Edition, running from 16 to 19 July 2026. This year's theme, George Herbert: In Every Corner Sing, explores the life and work of the Powys-born poet through music, song, and conversation.
The Cathedral hosts several highlights of the weekend, opening on Thursday evening with Brecon Singers, the BCF Festival Chorus and Brecknock Sinfonia performing Brahms's German Requiem. The Gesualdo Six, the award-winning vocal ensemble directed by Owain Park, perform the Grand Concert on Saturday 18 July, while Continuum return with The Soul's Journey on Sunday 19 July, drawing on Herbert's poetry through both classic and newly commissioned choral works. The weekend closes at the Cathedral with Cappella Lacensis, the German chamber choir making their UK debut with masterworks by Bach and Mendelssohn.
We'll also host a Festival Evensong featuring Vaughan Williams's Let All the World In Every Corner Sing, the piece that gives this year's theme its name. Earlier on Sunday, the Tithebarn will host 'One Harmonie': George Herbert, Music and the Soul, a pre-concert panel discussion with Dr Simon Jackson and Professor Helen Wilcox exploring Herbert's understanding of music and its theological significance.
Whether you're a regular worshipper or visiting for the music, we look forward to welcoming you through our doors this July.
