20th Century Choral Classics With the Brecknock Sinfonia and featuring leading British composers

Saturday 14 November 2026, 7.30pm

An evening of choral music celebrating the natural world, in Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday year.

Vaughan Williams' Benedicite sings of the sheer variety of life on earth. Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, heard here in Imogen Holst's chamber orchestra version, sets Christopher Smart's poetry about the cat, the mouse and the animals of the Bible. To close, John Rutter's Magnificat, song of praise, full of his warm melodies and lively rhythms.

Programme:

Vaughan Williams: Benedicite

Britten: Rejoice in the Lamb (chamber orchestra version by Imogen Holst)

Rutter: Magnificat
